Another Word for Cleavage

While applying face paint to Jesse before her class Halloween party at school (in the classroom), she thought she made a horrific discovery.

"Mom, you're not wearing a bra!!!"

"Yes I am. What made you think I wasn't?"

"I can see your boob crack."

I am a Victim of Spell Check

I finally, FINALLY, got my first call from a potential client. A single dad looking for care one day a week for his twin babies. Yay!

He saw the ad in the newspaper and called, despite the fact that they butchered my well thought out blurb. Instead of "Come play with our bunnies." they printed, "Come play with our business."

WHAT?

Decision Made

Thank you guys! I think I've made my decision. Since one of the reasons I enjoy quilting is for the relaxing effects that it has, I don't want to feel pressured to get this one done too quickly. I also like surprises and was looking forward to sending this quilt to my mom with her having no previous knowlegde of it. Soooo, I will buy her something else (I already have a few ideas), and she will probably get a really nice Mother's Day gift. Maybe I'll post a sneak peek picture for y'all as soon as I get the top of it put together.

What Shall I Do?

Once again, my indecisive self must turn to the internet to help me make a decision. It's either that, or I'll have to rely on the flipping of the coin technique.

At least it's not a life changing decision.

Predicament: I am making a quilt for my mom's birthday. I started it on Oct. 1. Her birthday is Oct. 27. I usually do all of my quilting by hand. Meaning every last stitch is done with a needle and thread and me sitting on the couch. I decided to try sewing the pieces together (piecing) with the sewing machine to see if I could do it accurately. I am almost done putting the top of the quilt together. Only problem is, I am going to do hand stitching for the quilting portion (the stitches on a quilt that hold the front to the back and often form intricate designs). I knew I wouldn't be done or even close to being done by her birthday.

Possible Solutions:

1. Take a picture of the completed top of quilt and send it with her birthday card to give her a sneak peek of her gift.

2. Write in her card that her present will arrive when it is completed.

3. Get her something else for her birthday, finish the quilt leisurely, and give it to her for Mother's Day.

4. Insert your own ideas here.

Note to Doc: Wake Up and Smell the Lithium

I strongly feel that hope can be restored. I also know that Dr. Hakuna Matata (Ron's psych doc) needs to be fired. Here's a fun fact for the day: Patients on Lithium are supposed to have regular blood tests to make sure the levels are correct. Funny thing is (not really funny but quite infuriating) that there has been no mention of any needed tests since he was released from the hospital 2 months ago. HE. MUST. BE. FIRED.

Dr. Matata also had to be reminded of the meds. that Ron is on. Does he not have this information in a file somewhere? Also, I'd like to add, if you are a doctor with patients taking psychotropic drugs and one of your patients calls to see if they can check in with you because of potential problems with medication levels, etc., DO NOT ALLOW SECRETARY TO MAKE THEM WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK TO TALK TO YOU! (You may not want to have said patient's suicide on your conscience.)

**I need someone/something to aim my anger at right now and he's the most convenient and deserving one**

Big hugs and tons of thank yous to any of Ron's peeps that are reading, for being so supportive of him. Even if it's long distance, the love is still felt and much appreciated.

Not Bloody Likely

Here we go again. (the title is my comment to his post.)

Who Wants to Fool Around?

After too much nitpicking, I finally have my final draft of my newspaper ad. Even though I barely tweeked my first draft, I really did take everyone's suggestions seriously. I threw around a bunch of variations, but kept coming back to my original idea. Ron was seriously rooting for me to veto the "frolic". He said it gives him a mental picture of a creepy man prancing through the yard (possibly without clothes but I have no idea where that comes from and frankly I don't want to know).

I argued that I liked the term frolic. Since most people seem to lose the ability or opportunity to frolic once they enter adulthood, I like the idea of offering that to the children I care for (and their parents are more than welcome to come frolic with us if they like). But because he was protesting the word "frolic", we went to the thesaurus for some other suggestions. You tell me, should I go with any of the alternatives?

Roget's New Millenniumâ„¢ Thesaurus

Main Entry: frolic

Part of Speech: verb

Definition: have fun

Synonyms: caper, carouse, cavort, cut capers, cut loose*, fool around*, frisk, gambol, hell, lark, let go*, let loose*, make merry, play, prance, raise hell*, revel, riot, rollick, romp, sport, spree

Source: Roget's New Millenniumâ„¢ Thesaurus, First Edition (v 1.3.1)

I'll let you insert the synonyms for yourself. You'll soon see why I decided to stick with the term "frolic".

A Little Help Please

In my ongoing venture to find clients for my daycare, I am going to place an ad in the local newspaper. I had wanted to place an ad that showed my logo (Jesse's artful creation), but I think it's a little too pricey to do so.

I know that a lot of my readers are childless (with the exception of your pet-kids), but if you can picture yourself as a prospective parent looking for someone to care for your precious child, would you call after reading this?

Note: most of the ads mention things like CPR certified, safe, clean, meals provided, affordable. Yes, all of those things are what parents are looking for, but I want to write something that stands out and doesn't sound like the rest of the crowd.

I'm such a star

I have all of my favorite blogs organized on Kinja weblog guide. At the bottom of the page, they have some suggested sites listed, about 10 in total. Among them were Dooce, gawker, stuff on my cat (one of Ron's faves), and So, this is it?

I feel like such a blog celebrity. It doesn't take much to make me feel good about myself sometimes.

Update on Mommy Dearest

Last night I was downstairs working on a new quilting project, a lap-sized quilt for my mom's birthday (note: I just started cutting out the fabric and her birthday is Oct. 27th....it may be a bit late but I don't think she'll mind).

Ron came downstairs with the laptop in tow. "YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS." I knew immediately to drop what I was doing and give him my full, undivided attention. With only a few more minutes of searching, he found a profile that his birth mom had posted in the year 2000. His worst fears are now null and void. If she has actively been searching for him, then he has practically no chance of being rejected. Now for writing that email. It should be a tricky one. I just told him to be as honest as possible about where he's coming from.

A few interesting tidbits without giving away too much. It appears that his birth mom was given some false info to possibly keep her from finding him. She was 16 (almost 17) when he was born. Her dad was in the military. I don't think she had much say in the decision making process. She listed her current occupation as "writer". I have a feeling that he may have inherited some of those genes. ;)

Quote of the day: "Maybe I won't have to be alone anymore."
